Following strict Archdiocesan guidelines, we enroll qualified students in Grade 4 into the Honors Math Program. The Archdiocese, after perusing our submitted data, dictates who may enter the local school program.
Starting in Grade 5, these students commence a fast-paced, relevant, and rigorous curriculum which spirals through Grade 8. Their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are consistently honed and challenged. Common Core material, interlaced with Algebra and Geometry, is presented, absorbed, and applied in Grades 5 and 6.
Beginning in Grade 7, an assiduous approach to both Pre-Algebra and Algebra I is maintained, developed, and escalated through the end of Grade 8. Throughout their four active years in the program, the students work in collaborative settings, participate in both on-line and paper Math contests, and design and deliver Math presentations while employing various aspects of highly-skilled technology. In Grade 8, the students complete a 3-part on-line Math assessment created by the Renaissance Company. This culminates with their taking an Algebra I Proficiency Exam which determines their high school tracking.
