The month of September is a time of change in the weather as well as new beginnings. In the
Archdiocese, we had a major change with the installation of Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap as the Archbishop of Philadelphia
on September 8. As we express best wishes to Cardinal Rigali on his retirement, we welcome Archbishop Chaput.
Notre Dame School
opened with an enrollment of 297 bolstered by 60 students who had previously attended Our Lady of Charity School. We welcome them
and are glad that they are meshing well.
Our PREP classes have begun with an enrollment of 208, some of whom come from other
parishes because of scheduling conflicts.
The annual Garage Sale was a great success with $600 being sent to Catholic Relief
Services in Somalia and $600 will be taken by Fr. Barren when he returns to Honduras in December.
The annual Carnival will be held on September 29, 30 and October 1, hoping for better weather than was the case in the spring.
Between now and November 27, the First Sunday of Advent, we will be making available as well as rehearsing the new music based on the new translation of the Roman Missal. In addition, flyers will be available to take home in order to familiarize us with the new translation.
